Phyllis Ihrke, 94, died Thursday, February 25, 2016, at St. Crispin’s Villa in Red Wing. Phyllis Margaret Ihrke was born January 8, 1922 in Viola Township, Olmsted County to Otto and Freida (Bierbaum) Urban. Phyllis was baptized February 26, 1922 and confirmed November 10, 1935 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church north of Eyota. She graduated from Eyota High School and attended Secretarial School in Rochester. On November 16, 1945 she married Harold V. Ihrke at St. Paul’s. They farmed in the Eyota area for 33 years, retiring and moving into Eyota in 1978. In June of 2000, they moved to Red Wing. They wintered in Arizona for many years. Harold died April 1, 2004. Phyllis continued to live in Red Wing, and on October 9, 2010 she married Gordon Selander. Gordon died November 2, 2013. During her life in Eyota, she was a longtime member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ and the women’s guild. She was also a member of the Eyota American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the Hiawatha Chapter of Ex-POW’S. Phyllis enjoyed sewing, reading, traveling, dancing and playing cards. Phyllis is survived by her children, Gary (Deanna) Ihrke of Spring Valley, MN., Grant (Connie) Ihrke of Wimauma, FL, Mark C. (Nancy) Ihrke of Garner, IA., Leah (Todd) Siewert of Red Wing, MN., and Layne (Lisa) Ihrke of Rochester, MN., grandchildren; Rochelle (Joe) Braun, Todd (Nadia) Ihrke, Chad (Christy) Ihrke, Craig Ihrke and fiancé Ashley Christian-Koep, Ryan (Jessica) Ihrke, Kevin (Mindy) Ihrke, Kelly (Tyler) Jansen, Daniel (Megan) Ihrke, Kyle (Emma) Siewert, Kristie (Jon) Peterson, Michael Ihrke and Madison Ihrke, great-grandchildren; Megan Braun, Madeline Braun, Nicholas Braun, Emma-Lee Ihrke, Stephan Ihrke, Alexander Ihrke, Rebecca (Becca) Ihrke, Carter Ihrke, Katherine Ihrke, Cecilia Ihrke, Elijah Jansen, Jordan Jansen and Isabelle Ihrke, step great-grandchildren; Hayden and Noah Scharmer. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands and one sister; Marion Konopisos. Funeral service is Monday, February 29, 2016, 11:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ north of Eyota, with Rev. Jean Boese and Rev. Kristen Schlauderaff officiating.
