In 1959 she graduated high school from the Milwaukee-Downer Seminary. She went on
to get her college degree in 1963 from the Katharine Gibbs Secretarial School in New
York.
In 1966 she married Eugene Gorman and they later divorced.
Prudence moved back to Rochester and was employed briefly at the Mayo Clinic and
then started her career at the Kahler Hotel. She worked as Roy Watson’s secretary and
then moved into the catering department in management. During the glamour years of
the Elizabethan Room, she did modeling for Julius Esttess. In 1999 she moved to
Plainview. Prudence enjoyed sports, cross word puzzles, reading and spending time
with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Sarah Swanson of Plainview; two grandsons, Nick
(Brittney) Swanson and Ben Swanson, both of Plainview; two great-grandchildren,
Sophia and Kegan; one sister, Hannah (Jim) Larson of Brewster, MA and one brother,
Peter Harwick of Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Harry; and one sister,
Elizabeth.
There will be no funeral service. Visitation is 6-8 pm Friday, June 20, at Schad & Zabel
Funeral Home in Plainview.
