Raymond William Blowers, 95, of Plainview died Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Parkside Elder Care, where he resided for the last 9 years. Ray was born April 12, 1921 in Plainview Township to Archie and Mary Viola (Duerrwaechter) Blowers.  He attended Woodland Country school until the 8th grade and farmed with his parents in Plainview and Quincy township. On November 6, 1949 he married Royla Thompson at the Little Brown Church in Nashau, IA.  Ray worked for George Mason Trucking then worked for the City of Plainview for 29 years as City, Water and Street Superintendent from 1957 to 1986.  He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.  He was very enthusiastic about guns and owned Ray’s Gun Shop in his home for many years.  That was his main hobby. Ray is survived by his grandchildren, Henry (Carolyn) Stelling, Gayle (John) McIntyre, Dawn (John) Austin, Bonnie (Randy) Boettcher, Jon (Deb) Ploof, Mary Ploof, Larry (Jodi) Ploof; further survived by 19 great-grandchildren, 5 nieces, 3 nephews, 20 great-great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Royla, daughters Almeda Stelling, Paula Ploof, grandson Gary Stelling, great-grandson Rick Stelling, great-granddaughter Tashina Ploof and brother Ralph Blowers. Funeral service is 11:00 am, Saturday March 25, 2017, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plainview with Rev. Phil Augustine officiating. Burial is at the Greenwood Cemetery, Plainview.
