Richard “Dick” Groski, 79, of Eyota, died peacefully surrounded by his family,
Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at Whitewater Health Services in St.Charles.
Dick was born April 13, 1939 in Lewiston to Leonard and Lucille (Karsten)
Groski. On February 4, 1961 he married Elizabeth “Betty” Becker in Lewiston. In
1962 they moved to Plainview and in 1974 they moved to Eyota. Most recently,
Dick lived in Chatfield. Dick was employed by United Telephone Service for
many years retiring in 1992. He then drove school bus for 25 years for Dover-
Eyota. He enjoyed camping, fishing, time with his family and going to the casino.
He is survived by his children; Pamela Groski (Curt Mayer) of Stewartville,
Ronald (Carilee) of Fillmore, Michael (Jennifer) of Chatfield, David (Jeanne) of
Stewartville, Scott (Amanda) of Chatfield and James (Jenniffer) of Gordon, WI;
19 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Joanne (Richard)
Schultz of Lewiston, Sandra Bonow of Eyota and Sharon (Pete) Martin of Dodge
Center.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty, two grandchildren and
two brothers, Robert and Thomas.
Visitation is Friday, 5-8 pm at Schad & Zabel Funeral Home in Eyota. A private
family service will be held at 11 am Saturday at the funeral home with burial to
follow at Holy Redeemer Catholic Cemetery, Eyota. Military graveside rites will
be conducted by the Eyota American Legion.
