Robert Laqua

Robert LaQua, 94, died at his home in Plainview July 24, 2016. Robert Frederick LaQua was born on the family farm in Wabasha County on October 4, 1921 to Frank and Viola (Funke) LaQua. He attended country school. On September 12, 1946 he married Lois Shay at Conception in the parish house. They lived and farmed near Theilman and then moved to Plainview in the early 1950’s. Robert continued to farm and also worked at Schultz Implement in Plainview. Robert was a longtime member of the St. Joachim’s Catholic Church in Plainview where he ushered for many years. He was a pilot and enjoyed flying and also enjoyed gardening. He is survived by his wife, Lois of Plainview; Niece, Diana Turner; Nephews, David Mason and Dana Garrett and great nephew, Jeffrey Turner. Robert was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Irene. Funeral mass is Thursday, July 28, 10 a.m. at St. Joachim’s Catholic Church in Plainview with Father William Becker officiating. Burial is at Greenwood Cemetery in Plainview. Visitation will be Thursday, one hour prior to the service at the church.
