Roland Wood

Roland Byron Wood, 76, died October 17, 2020, at his home in Reeds Landing. Roland was born April 23, 1944 in Wabasha to Leslie and Mary (Gilchrest) Wood. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1962. On January 25, 1964 he married Carol Schierts at St. Felix Catholic Church in Wabasha. They made their home on the Wood family farm, rural Plainview, where they farmed until retirement and moved to Reeds Landing. Roland was a member of the Greenwood Prairie Old Iron Club and the Wabasha County DHIA, ADA board, soil and Water board, Fair board, Plainview Township Zoning board and was a 4-H leader. He was also a member of St. Joachim Catholic Church in Plainview. Roland played on the winter Plainview men’s volleyball league for many years. He and Carol did University of Minnesota Dairy Tours traveling to Wisconsin, Idaho, Pennsylvania and California. They took many car trips, traveling through-out the United States. He also enjoyed playing cards and picking berries. He is survived by his wife Carol; 4 sons, Michael (Kristin) Wood, Peter (Jill) Wood, Bruce (Natalie) Wood and Dan (Nicole) Wood; 13 grandchildren, Keegan, Parker, Devin, Casey, Levi, Kallie, Ryanne, Braiden, Alissa, Dana, Emily, Jamie and Sawyer; 4 sisters, Patricia Ebner, Doris Weeks, Janice Hall and Myra Gusa. Preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Arnold, Kenneth and Earl; 3 sisters, Ruth Firzlaff, Shirley Tyson and Elaine Koko. A private burial at St. Joachim’s Catholic Cemetery was held November 14, 2020. Schad & Zabel Funeral Home in Plainview assisted the family with the arrangements.
