Hammel. On September 25, 1935, she married Hubert Henry Neumann at St. Paul’s
United Church of Christ north of Eyota. They farmed near Dover until 1963 when they
moved to Eyota. She moved to Madonna Meadows in December of 2010.
She was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Church and served as church organist for
several years. She taught Sunday school for many years and was active in the Women’
s Guild. She loved sewing and made most of her own clothes. She and Hubert enjoyed
doing crafts and jig saw puzzles together.
Rose is survived by her three children, Harold (Janice) of Rochester, Kenneth
(Theone) of Marshfield, Wisconsin, and David of Williamsburg, Virginia; six
grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and one
brother, Leonard Hammel of Eyota.
She was preceded in death by her husband Hubert; three brothers, Carl, Paul and
Herman Hammel; two sisters, Lena Bierbaum and Frieda Ostermann; one daughter-in-
law Bonnie; and one great-grand-daughter Ashley.
A funeral service will be held at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ north of Eyota on
Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jean Boese officiating. Burial
will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, November 22, 2013, 4:00 -7:00
p.m. at the Schad & Zabel Funeral Home in Eyota and one hour prior to the service at
the church on Saturday.
In lieu of flowers or plants, the family prefers memorials to St. Paul’s Church.
