Ruth Gloria Mussell

Ruth Gloria (McFarlin) Mussell died peacefully at the Green Prairie Rehabilitation Center in Plainview, Minnesota on November 14, 2018, at the age of 93. Ruth was born on October 28, 1925 along with her twin brother in Plainview Township, Minnesota to Glenn and Ida (Haessig) McFarlin. She married Roy Robert Mussell, on November 4, 1944. The couple had two daughters, Sharlet and Rita. Ruth had many different jobs; but from 1968 to 1986, Roy and Ruth ran the Plainview hotel. Ruth enjoyed running the hotel and welcoming guests into her home. They loved to hit a round of golf or spend time with their bowling league. Ruth also spent time in her garden, sewing or canning vegetables. She was also a dedicated member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church. Her grandchildren remember her as a loving and devoted caretaker who encouraged them to be their best and pursue their goals. Ruth is survived by her son-in-law Jim Smith, and grandchildren Scott Meyer, Kimberly (Susan) McHugh, Jeffrey (Stephanie) Smith, Kelly (Bradley) Smith, and Elisa Smith and eight great-grandchildren. Ruth is preceded in death by her husband Roy Robert Mussell, parents Glenn and Ida McFarlin, Siblings Roy, Donald, Allan, Marvin, Mabel, Joy and Ione, and both daughters Sharlet McHugh and Rita Smith. Funeral service is Tuesday, November 20, 2018, 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plainview with Pastor Phil Augustine officiating. Burial is at the Greenwood Cemetery, Plainview. Visitation is Tuesday, one hour prior to the service at the church.
