Ruth Schneider, 90, of Plainview, died Friday, December 19, 2014, at St. Isidore
Ruth Betty Firzlaff was born December 5, 1924 in West Bend, Wisconsin, to Frank
and Inez (Foster) Firzlaff. She graduated from Plainview High School in 1943. On
October 23, 1944 she married Arthur Schneider at Conception Catholic Church.
Together they raised seven children. They farmed for 22 years on Hoosier Ridge,
retiring and moving to Plainview Township. Ruth worked for many years as a
receptionist for her son Tom at his beauty salon in Plainview. She was a member of
Plainview Community Presbyterian Church and the Eastern Star.
She is survived by her children; Gary Schneider, Tom Schneider, Linda Bruegger,
Jim “Wubsey” ( Donna “Emma’) Schneider all of Plainview, Bob (Judy) Schneider of
Elgin, Debra (Ron) Piva, Penny (Leo) Schmit, both of Plainview; 17 grandchildren, 9
great-grandchildren; brothers, Ralph (Elethe) Firzlaff of Plainview, Richard (Edna)
Firzlaff of Birmingham, AL, and Bruce (Sharon) Firzlaff of Plainview; and 1 sister,
Eleanor Ryan of St. Peter, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Art, and one brother, Frank
Firzlaff Jr.
Funeral service is Tuesday, December 23, 11:00 a.m. at the Community
Presbyterian Church in Plainview with Rev. John Curtiss officiating. Burial is at
Greenwood Cemetery in Plainview. Visitation is Tuesday, 9:30 till time of the service
at the church.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Isidore Health Center of
Greenwood Prairie in Plainview.
