Scott Arnold Pries

Scott Arnold Pries, 64, of Plainview, MN, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at his residence after a prolonged chronic illness.

Born on November 14, 1961, in Rochester, MN, Mr. Pries was the son of Robert and Donna (Schoonover) Pries. He was raised in Plainview and actively participated in high school wrestling, baseball, and high school choir, graduating from Plainview High School in 1980. On November 13, 1981, he married Mary Melvin, and together they raised four sons. The family resided in Rochester, MN, where Mr. Pries served in a maintenance position, before relocating to Goshen, Indiana, for twenty years. During this period, he worked as an Electrician with IBEW Local 153. In 2013, the couple returned to Plainview, where Mr. Pries continued his career in a maintenance position.

Throughout his career as an electrician, Scott was admired for his exceptional work ethic and meticulous attention to detail, which earned him the respect of colleagues and clients alike. He was also a passionate Minnesota Vikings fan, rarely missing a game and proudly supporting the team through every season. For many years, Scott enthusiastically served as the Fantasy Football Commissioner for his family's league, bringing laughter and competitive spirit to gatherings.

Mr. Pries enjoyed hunting, outdoor activities, camping, gardening, golfing, four wheeling, and riding side-by-side vehicles, he took pleasure in sharing these hobbies with his four sons and wife. He was known for having a green thumb with gardening. His kindhearted nature and caring personality drew people to him.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary; children, Jeremy (Krystal) Pries, Keean Pries (Amber Valderrama), Jacob (Sydney) Pries, and Kadin Pries; two grandchildren, Ever Lynne Valderrama and Katum Pries; mother, Donna Pries; siblings, Debbie (Joe) Charette, Cathy (Jerry) Wiebusch, Tim (Diana) Pries, Kari Pries, Pam Carleton, Jimmie Pries, and Jennie Pries; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Pries was preceded in death by his father, Robert Pries, and sister, Bonnie Lee McCreary.

A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at St. Joachim Catholic Church (900 W Broadway, Plainview, MN 55964). Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Schad and Zabel Funeral Homes (57 3rd St SW, Plainview, MN 55964), as well as one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at St. Joachim Catholic Cemetery.
