Sharon Walters, 78, of Plainview, passed unexpectedly at her home October 26, 2016 into her Heavenly Father’s arms. She was born on December 26, 1937 in Austin, MN to Herman and Kristine (Ramse) Sorenson. Sharon graduated from Blooming Prairie High School in 1956. She worked at St. Mary’s Hospital until she married Melvin Walters on May 21, 1960 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plainview. Sharon also worked for the Minnesota State Parks at Whitewater and Carley State Park for 10 years. After retirement, she worked for Immanuel Lutheran Church as a janitor for a number of years. Her hobbies included collecting many miniature figurines which she called her “pets.” She also enjoyed puzzles, adult coloring books, camping, family gatherings, “leafing” (driving around and looking at all the beautiful fall leaves) during the fall season, gardening, decorating for the holidays and all things “uff da.” Her smiles and laughter were loved by many. Survivors include her children, Renee (Dennis) Anderson of Zumbro Falls, Michael Walters (Kate Olson) of Minneapolis, Scott (Heather) Walters of Sioux City, Iowa, and Lori (Chris) Hill of Eymoutiers, France, 12 grandchildren, Adam, Nick, Caitlin, Robbie, David, Matthew, Chantel, Courtney, Brendon, Jerica, Jaycelyn, Nick, and 1 great grandchild Bella, a sister June Buenger and a brother Allen Sorenson. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her brothers, Laverne and Maynard, and infant brother Paul, sisters, Irene and Delores and twin sister Karen. Funeral service is Friday, November 4, 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plainview with Rev. Phil Augustine officiating. Burial is at Greenwood Cemetery in Plainview. Visitation is Thursday, November 3, 5-8 pm at Schad & Zabel Funeral Home in Plainview and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
