Shirley Ann Schoessler, 82, of Rochester passed away peacefully with family by her bedside at Zumbrota Care Center on Wednesday, September 18, 2019.  She was born September 12, 1937 to Henry and Elizabeth (Hardt) Frank in Shephard, Montana.  Shirley graduated from Laurel High School and attended college in Billings. Shirley was baptized and confirmed in the Congregational Church in Laurel where she was an active member in the Sunday School and Youth Programs as well as the church choir.  That is where she happened to meet Everett Schoessler, the substitute church organist, and the rest is history.  They were married in the Laurel Church on June 23, 1957.Following their move to Yankton, South Dakota for Everett to attend the Theology School, they began their life of serving churches in the ministry. Shirley always had an active role as music director, and children’s program director each of the churches they served. She also had an active role in the women’s organizations as well as fund raising for major projects. Through the years their service led them to churches in Plevna, MT, Sidney, MT, Torrington, WY, Odessa WA, and finally Eyota and Millville, MN.  During those years their lives were bless with a daughter and three sons and many wonderful friends at each of the churches.  In 1988, Shirley began a career as an administrative assistant at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester and retired in 2004. She loved her job at Mayo and the people she worked with. Shirley enjoyed spending time with all her grandchildren and was expecting her first great-grandchild next month.  She loved gardening, quilting, crocheting, and especially traveling back home to Montana to be with family. Shirley is survived by her husband, Everett, sister Connie (Robert) Reiter of Laurel, MT and sister-in-law Marcia Frank of Paul, ID, daughter Cathy (Jeff) Neumann of Saint Charles, MN, sons, Russell Schoessler of Byron, MN, Matthew (Lori) Schoessler of Alpharetta, GA. 11 grandchildren, Andra (Jon) Hornbuckle, Caleb, Emily, Grace Hammel, Katy Neumann, Nikki (Devon) Waas, Adam, Olivia, Samantha, Alexandra and David Schoessler.Preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters and 3 brothers-in-law, one brother, and two granddaughters and her son, Mark Schoessler.Shirley’s family thanks the wonderful staff of the Zumbrota Care Center who lovingly cared for her following her diagnosis of a brain tumor just 45 days ago. To the Red Wing Mayo Clinic Hospice Staff who guided us gently through this process we will be forever grateful. Thank you to all the Hospice Volunteers who gave of their time to make mom and her family comfortable, even you Lucy! Funeral service is Saturday, September 28th 11:00 at St. Paul’s Church, north of Eyota.  Visitation will be Friday, September 27th 5:00-8:00 at St. Paul’s Church.
