Stacy Ann Montgomery, 60, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family the morning of May 30th, 2024.
She was born on June 3rd, 1963, to Bob and Marian Beissel in Cannon Falls, MN. She graduated from Cannon Falls High School, then went on to Winona State University where she met her lifelong love, Tony Montgomery. Their first date was Sunday mass and it was there that she fell in love. They married in 1983 and started a family. During this time she ran a daycare and helped with the family business. She eventually went back to school to complete her teaching degree.
In her younger years her siblings were her best friends, enjoying endless adventures on the farm and around Cannon Falls. Stacy was spontaneous and uninhibited and was known to spend most of her time outside. One of her favorite pastimes was to sit out and watch the sunset with the farm dog. In her teenage years and beyond Stacy would say she was never the popular girl, but always the nice girl. She was awarded Homecoming Queen her senior year of high school as well as Miss Cannon Falls, and Homecoming Queen her sophomore year at Winona State.
As Stacy would say it, she ran her race. Though she didn’t run it as a competitor. She ran it to help carry others along in their own races, too. Much of her life was spent caring for others, from her teen years as a CNA and lifeguard to her 20-year career as a kindergarten teacher with PEM public schools for which she had God-given talent and was born to do. Her energy was unmatched, and she instilled hard work, positive attitude, and kindness through her actions as well as her words.
She grew up strong in Catholic faith, with her given confirmation name, Anastasia. She instilled that same faith within her children and it was her guide through her four years with cancer. She fought hard and won in order to spend her remaining time with her husband and family while enjoying most of her summers at the houseboat.
Stacy did not die from cancer. She LIVED with cancer. And she still LIVES in the heavens, among us, and through her family.
Stacy is survived by her parents, Bob and Marian Beissel; her siblings and their families; her husband Tony; son Ryan (Trista) Montgomery of Valley City, ND; daughter Chelsie (Brad) Jech of Plainview; son Chase Montgomery and his fiancé, Caycee Bean of La Crosse, WI; daughter Josie (Bradley) Schultz of Plainview; and grandchildren Charlee, Reese, Carmen, Lily, Barrett, and Huxton.
A visitation will be held at St. Joachim Catholic Church of Plainview, from 3-7pm on Sunday, June 9th. The funeral mass will also be held at St. Joachim Catholic Church at 11am on Monday, June 10th with Father Tom Melvin officiating.
