He attended St. Francis grade school eventually graduating from Waseca Southern
School of Agriculture in 1961. From there he attended and graduated from Dunwoody
Institute in Minneapolis in 1964.
On July 3, 1965, he married LaDonna Hansen at St. Francis Catholic Church in
Rochester.
He was in the Naval Air Reserve, stationed in St. Paul, MN, from 1966-1969 and
enjoyed working on large aircraft at that time. After his stint in the Navy he worked at
IBM from 1969-1973 at which time he was also doing some farming. After leaving IBM
he began farming full-time in rural Plainview, and that has been his passion ever since.
One of his most treasured accomplishments was obtaining his private pilot’s license on
December 5, 1987. His greatest loves were his family, farming, and flying. He was a
member of the Greenwood Prairie Classic Iron club, EAA, and the Plainview
Experimental Aircraft Association chapter 1258.
Survivors include his wife, LaDonna of Plainview, a son Dan (Jess) Corbin of Plainview,
daughter Denice (Blaine) Mickow of Elgin, 7 grandchildren; Tanner, Ally, Riley, Zach,
Lauren, Kaitie, and Anna. He is also survived by a brother, Larry (Gayle) Corbin of
Fort Wayne, IN, mother-in-law Geraldine (Donald) Ihrke of St. Charles, and numerous
nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Micallee Matson, and father-in-law,
Donald Hansen.
Funeral Mass is Friday, December 27, 2013, 11 am at St. Joachims Catholic Church in
Plainview with Father Robert Meyer officiating. Burial is at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Viola.
Visitation is Thursday 5-8 pm at the Schad & Zabel Funeral Home in Plainview and 1
hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
