Sylvia Olive (Nickelson) Maringer, 94, of Wabasha, died Wednesday July 2, 2014
at St. Elizabeth Nursing Home in Wabasha.
She was born September 23, 1919 at Beaver, MN to Lawrence (Babe) and Pearl
(Harmon) Nickelson.
Sylvia attended grade school in Northville, South Dakota, Minneiska, MN and the
Glendale School in the Whitewater Valley. She graduated from Winona Senior
High in 1938. She married Lawrence Knutson in 1940 and they later divorced.
Sylvia then married Cornelius (Coonie) Maringer October 15, 1948. They farmed
all their married life on Hoosier Ridge. Coonie died April 14, 2001.
Sylvia enjoyed Country music, playing cards, crossword puzzles, embroidering
and loved being mother to her 5 children.
She is survived by her children, Gerald (Jerry) Knutson ( Alys Knutson- Divorced)
(Joanie Przytarski, deceased) of Winona, Patrica (Pat) Maringer of Honolulu,
Hawaii, Ronald (Pete) (Brenda) Maringer on the home farm in Weaver, Nancy
(LeRoy) Zabel, Kellogg, Robert (Bob) Maringer (Mary Moravec) of Minnesota City,
11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren,1 great- greatgrandchild, Niece, Debbie
(Joe) and son Bart of San Diego, CA, as well as many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister Maxine Evers and
brother in law, Ervin Evers.
Memorial service will be Wednesday, July 9, 2:00 p.m. at the Schad & Zabel
Funeral Home in Plainview with Mr. Howard Ponder officiating. Burial is at the
Hillside Cemetery, Minneiska.
Visitation is Tuesday, 5-8 pm at the Schad & Zabel Funeral Home and 1 hour prior
to the service Wednesday at the funeral Home.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials preferred.
