Thomas E. Jacobs, 52, of Eagan, Minnesota, formerly of Plainview, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at Fairview University Hospital in Minneapolis from pancreatitis. His family was at his side. Tom was born on March 11, 1965 in Wabasha, Minnesota, to Earl E. and Rita (Deming) Jacobs. Tom graduated from Plainview High School in 1983. He then attended college and graduated from Mankato State University in 1987. Tom served honorably in the National Guard and worked for West Publishing in Eagan, Minnesota for over 20 years. Tom loved spending time with his family and came to Plainview almost every weekend to help his parents in any way he could. He loved cooking for large gatherings, especially on holidays. His family always looked forward to his creations! He never let us down! He loved activities in the outdoors including hunting, fishing, gardening and helping his brother on the farm. Tom was an avid gardener and was known for making great products and meals from his harvest. He was also an avid NASCAR, Minnesota Viking, Minnesota Twins and Wild fan. Tom loved life! Tom will be sadly missed by his parents, Earl and Rita Jacobs of Plainview, siblings Jennifer Barney of Michigan ND, Mark (Denise) Jacobs of Plainview MN, Daniel (DeeRenee) Jacobs of Port Angeles WA, Mary (Bill) Wagner of Rochester MN, Susan (Mike) Thompson of Casper WY, Julie (Chuck) Kruger of St. Cloud MN, John (Jane) Jacobs of Rochester MN, Michael (Dan) Jacobs of Vancouver WA, and Karen Jacobs of Mason City IA. Tom was greatly loved by 20 nieces and nephews Erin, Jerilym, Marie, Jacob, Ben, Elizabeth, Teresa, Becky, Ann, Jim, April, John, Emily, Justin, Gerrett, Jacob, Sam, Mitch, Quinn, and Colin and 27 great nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Michael Barney. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at St. Joachim’s Catholic Church in Plainview, MN with Father William Becker presiding. Burial will immediately follow at the parish cemetery. Visitation will be at Schad & Zabel Funeral Home in Plainview, MN on Tuesday, December 5, 4-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will also be at the church on Wednesday for one hour before the service.
