Verona Evelyn Timm, age 93 of Plainview, died December 26, 2018 at Green
Prairie Rehabilitation Center in Plainview.
She was born in the home of her grandparents in Plainview on March 16, 1925,
the daughter of Reuben and Elsie (Goetz) Zabel. She was baptized at Immanuel
Lutheran Church in Plainview on March 27, 1925, and confirmed there in 1939.
She was a lifetime member of Immanuel.
She attended Plainview schools, graduating in 1943. She enjoyed singing in a
group and tap dancing as a teenager. While in high school she was trained to
prepare rationing books for World War II. Verona was a bookkeeper for Peoples
Co-Op Oil in Plainview for four years.
On March 22, 1947 she married Elmer Timm at Immanuel Lutheran Church. The
marriage was blessed with two children, Rita and Marlin. They farmed in Wabasha
County. They were named outstanding conservation farmers of Wabasha County
on three different occasions and recognized by the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
Mr. Timm passed in 2009, just days short of their 62nd wedding anniversary.
Verona enjoyed baking, cooking, trying new recipes, reading, growing plants, and
travel. She loved cats and had two as her companions. Her family gave her much
joy and she enjoyed baking for them.
Verona is survived by a daughter, Rita (Robert) Luecke of Norwood Young
America; a son, Marlin (Gayle) Timm of Plainview; six grandchildren: Daryl
(Heather) Luecke of Norwood Young America, Jennifer (Mark) Jurgensen of
Plainview, Darla Wisch of Waconia, Jason (Abby) Timm of Kellogg, Donna (Harry)
Markus of Kenosha, WI, and Michael (Courtney) Timm of Plainview; 16
great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Donald (Mary) Timm and sister-in-law, Elaine
(Franklin) Folkert, and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer, parents Reuben and Elsie
Zabel and her brother and sister-in-law Marvin and Lucille Zabel.
Funeral service is Saturday, December 29, 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran
Church in Plainview with Pastor Phil Augustine officiating. Burial is at Greenwood
Cemetery, Plainview. Visitation is Saturday, one hour prior to the service at the
church.
